Paranoia is defined as a mental condition, characterized by delusions of persecution or grandeur. A paranoid person has an unreasonable fear that other people are out to get them. It is an instinct influenced by anxiety that creates a false belief that people are plotting against you. When someone who is extremely dangerous becomes incredibly paranoid the outcome can be catastrophic.

After he was led to believe that his ex girlfriend was romantically involved with a police officer Raoul Moats paranoia manifested, leading him to start hunting police officers. What followed was one of the largest UK manhunts of all time.
